Shetland Flock |
|
|
|
These are photos of my entire flock of Shetland sheep. I love this breed of sheep- they make gorgeous and diverse wool. They are hardy and usually friendly too! I am posting these sheep photos from the oldest to the youngest. |

Gwennyth was born in 1996! I bought her as a middle-aged ewe and she has produced gorgeous lambs for my, including flecket lambs and triplets! I retired her at age 10 but think she could have kept going. Now she is starting to look her age but acts great. In fact, she can easily out run me still. |

This is Ebony. She is one of the first two ewes I bought from Mystic Knoll. She was born in 1997. She has always been friendly and has made wonderful black wool and gorgeous lambs for me. I am hoping that she is having a nice retirement. |

This is Reuben. He is a grey Shetland wether I bought from Mountain Niche as one of two ram companions for my first ram Loki. The other two have died but Reuben is still trucking along- making grey fleeces. |

Sadie was the other ewe I bought from Mystic Knoll. She came over and sat on my lap there and sold herself to me. She is from the Flett line and has lovely moorit wool. She ahs also made lovely lambs for me and is now retired. |

Bob is out of my first set of lambs. He ahs always been quite friendly and loves to greet visitors. He has made lovely primitive style grey fleeces for me. Now he is getting old, losing his teeth and horns but still enjoys company. |

Sheila was born in April 1999. I purchased her from Mountain Niche at the same time as Gwennyth and was looking for spotted lambs. She has produced gorgeous dark grey medium-fine fleeces for me as well as modified colored lambs. She is retiring this year after producing two more lambs. One named Shaun the sheep may grow up to become our new breeding ram, carrying on her modified color genes. |

Lily was born in March 2001 and was my first bottle lamb. She followed me everywhere, including vacations, when she was a lamb. Now she is not quite so attached but still pretty. She had lambing difficulties so I do not breed her anymore, just collect her lovely wool for her keep.
You can go to the next page of sheep photos by clicking on Lily's picture. |

This is Coco. He is a wether from my second set of lambs, born in September 2000. This is when I learned that Shetland sheep can cycle out of season! He earns his keep by making he most gorgeous moorit fleeces. I jsut love my wethers fleeces- they are not stressed by breeding, pregnancies, etc, so are my favorites. |
